Poem: "They rise and fall"

They rise and fall
The sea tides by the pull of the moon
They rustle and sway
The tree leaves by the quiet breeze
They change from lush green to snowy white
The seasons as the earth spins in a tilt

They laugh and play
The little ones as they seek each other's hands
They sigh and admire
The old lovers as their hands clasp around each other's
They walk and run and breathe and keep on living
The women and the men and the little ones, too

They echo heartily
Your glad laugh in its amusement
They deepen wisely
Your substance in your questioning and understanding
They unfold before your very eyes
Your hopes until God gives you another

Your conversations will go on with others
You will travel the world because it's your destiny
But I will be here
And I will go on, too

But the smell of the kindling and the warmth of the fire
Remind me that you were once here
Although the scarlet sunset by the shore or the star-gems
melting into the cityscape would have taken a new meaning for me

The agony within is not that I'll miss you
But rather of what I'll miss;
Not the longing
But that many days from now,
All these will be forgotten, as if they never happened.

This poem is actually unfinished but I was very eager to share because of the pretty imagery.  This is also very personal and that's why some of the scenes are quite specific.  Young love is such a splendid thing yet it eludes me.  Thanks for reading.

Poem: "It's not that the grapes are sour"

It's not that the grapes are sour
It's just that you're no wine for me
Such as in that wedding feast twenty centuries ago
"You saved the best for last!" they exclaimed
But you're neither the last nor the best for me.

It's not that I've found another
Not that I was really looking
When I came upon this pearl of great price
I just HAD to give up everything to have it
But you're no wise investment for me.

It's that I've simply moved on
A foot in front of the other
I bid you adieu, I bid you farewell-
hoped you the best and I meant it!
Because when I let you go I made room for
the One who had made me His sweet wine and His precious pearl
The One who's so good for me.

Poems I Found in a Coffee Shop♥

Coffee shops are magical places.

♥♥♥

I found these two less-than-pretty paintings hanging on the wall of a coffee shop I happened to waltz into.

But the poems written on them were entirely pretty.  I thought I'd shared them with you.  The poems are written by Brian Andreas.

"I was waiting for such a long time, she said. I thought you forgot.
It's hard to forget I said,
when there is such an empty space when you are gone."

"As long as the sun shall rise goes the old lover's vow,
but we are children of a scientific age and have no time for poetry.
Still, I offer a quiet prayer of thanks for the sunlight
each time I see your face."

Poem: "I could have written a poem tonight"

I could have written a poem tonight
But chose not to
I could have chosen to share my heart
But this "organ of fire" may set forests ablaze and burn bridges
And I cannot have that

I would have written a song tonight
But decided against it
I would have sung it to you during one of my lonely nights
But I know that you would have laughed
And I cannot bear that

I should have just finished my mundane task tonight
But I figured to let my heart speak
I should someday make this right
But as of tonight, I quieted the could have, would have, and should have
Someday, I will do this right
Because if I don't, then I cannot live with that.

Poem: "Your dreams"

Your dreams and plans are unfolding right before my eyes
The floodgates are widening
And my heart is pounding in my chest
Quite frightened as I remember that I can't even swim
But I'm living for You
I take the plunge.

Poem: "I am more careful now"

I am more careful now, dear boy
A little more careful than before
To do things with such intent
My words, my notions, my time spent

I deliberate long on words now, dear boy
Deliberating more than before
Back and forth to make sure
I wasn't too obvious nor too demure

I am not so free now, dear boy
Not as free when I didn't feel, like before
Maybe it's best you haven't a clue
Yet hoping that you'd respond to me, too

You've got me stuttering now, dear boy
Silly things, sweet nothings, stranger still than before
My heart may ache but none compared
To the headache I feel for you, dear boy

Poem: "Tap on my heart"

Tap on my heart
With a pen, a pencil
the warm drawl of your voice
the soft pads of your fingertips upon the glass of your cellphone

Tapping away to tell me how you are
To ask me how I am
To tell me again that you love me

And
    how
       deep

Tap on my heart
The doors swing open
To envelope you in arms of embrace
To warm you with ruby kisses upon lips that are as red

Tapping away upon my cheek
My neck and chest
My other silly places

And
    how
       much

Because when you tap
You're leaving an impression
Upon my very soul

Poem: "Sky-watching"

Sky-watching
For one of these days the clouds will unfold
When light peers in
Then breaks into jubilant outpouring
Revealing a dream we've always had
Realizing the Hope of hopes
Our hearts will tremble with fear
Or blessed gladness
Every eye will be lifted up to the sky
For the invisible God will finally be visible
And will bring justice forevermore
And His Kingdom will be made perfect on Earth
As it is in Heaven
Until then, I will wait on You
Until then, I will be sky-watching!

Background:

There is nothing like the skies of Guam!  Every time I look up at it, I think about Jesus, my God- who was God, is still God, and is the coming God!  Like the other poems I've featured in this blog, this is supposed to have no title of its own except for its first line.  A work in progress, I did not want to lose the draft so I got excited and decided to just post it on this blog. :)

One of the most compelling questions I've heard recently is: "If Jesus were to be here right now, would this be good for you?"  It is my earnest prayer that many people would respond with a "Yes."  But if not, it is not yet too late!  The coming God is pleading to have people like you and me to come to Him and be with Him eternally, forevers away from judgment and death.  But as much as it hurts me to say this, the clock is ticking...

I hope that you enjoy these photos that I've taken, edited, and put together.  :)

“Look, he is coming with the clouds,”
and “every eye will see him,
even those who pierced him”;
and all peoples on earth “will mourn because of him.”
So shall it be! Amen.

Poem: "A big fish in a small pond"

A big fish in a small pond
Dared to jump- to take a leap of faith
Now a little fish in a big pond
Amongst bigger ones
Where I do not belong
And you have kept me at arm's length
Never drawing me close to your heart
Not caring whether I drew you close to mine
But you put me through your hurdles and hoops- your circus
That I should be so lucky to be in the presence of greatness
That I should be so lucky that many were called but few were chosen

O clanging gong!
You preach to me
But neither do you see the wounds you cause
Because you have no real love for me

O the Saul to my David!
Amongst friends
Until a spear flies aiming at an already wounded heart
Because you have no real love for me

To make Him smile
To restore the joy of His salvation
If you only understood my heart
You'd have compassion for my passion.

Poem: "Your eyes that"

Your eyes that
Speculate
Intimidate
Captivate me
That look at me with affection and amusement
Your eyes where I am lost and have me feeling
So small
So young
So silly
And that maybe you only want someone
So beautiful
So mature
So perfect
And that you'll always only be my friend
And I can accept that:
Your eyes
No, the memories of them,
Are all I will ever have
And I can accept that!
BUT why did God make your eyes so beautiful?

I Pray For You

I pray for you
To be like still waters,
   Rested and renewed,
   Content, not lacking in anything,
Peaceful in your heart and spirit.
Psalm 23:1-3 "The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he refreshes my soul."
I pray for you
To be like a wise man,
To walk the straight and narrow path,
To seek the star that leads to God,
And find yourself in His loving arms.
Proverbs 3:5-6 "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight."
I pray for you
To be like a song,
   Rejoicing,
Singing praises that bring in the dawn,
Thanking the Faithful One, your Redeemer.
Psalm 108:1-4 "My heart, O God, is steadfast; I will sing and make music with all my soul. Awake, harp and lyre! I will awaken the dawn. I will praise you, Lord, among the nations;  I will sing of you among the peoples. For great is your love, higher than the heavens; your faithfulness reaches to the skies."
I pray for you
To be like a prince,
   Prosperous,
The crowned child of the Everlasting One,
With a crown that will never fade.
1 Peter 3-5 "Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you, who by God's power are being guarded through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time."
I pray for you
To be like a warrior,
  Strong and courageous,
More than a victor, more than a conqueror,
Steadfast in the Truth of God- the armor that the enemy cannot penetrate!
Joshua 1:8-9 "'Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful. Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.'"
